Two people killed after truck driver runs stop sign

MIDLAND, Texas – Two people were killed in a Midland truck accident on Tuesday night after a truck driver ran a stop sign.

The truck accident occurred at the intersection of Farm-to-Market roads 1788 and 1787 in Midland County. The victims were a 38-year-old truck driver and 39-year-old laborer.

According to authorities, a 2006 Mack truck driven by 25-year-old Andrew Jerry Muniz, of Odessa, was travelling westbound on FM 1787 around 6:30 p.m. when Muniz took a stop sign and crashed into a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck that was heading northbound.

The pickup was being driven by Chris Anthony Bentley, of Midland. He and his passenger, John Heath Morales, of Marfa, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Muniz and his passenger, Javier Aguirre, 21, of Midland, were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. Both were released on Wednesday morning.

Authorities reported that neither Bentley nor Morales were wearing their seatbelts.

    I wish people would get their facts straight. The driver of the chevy pickup is the one who ran the stop sign. There is a witnesses statement that was given to the troopers the night of the accident. The driver of the semi is going through a lot and is reminded of this accident every day. He was not at fault but it will always be on his mind.
