Truck driver arrested following fatal series of crashes
GWINNETTE COUNTY, GA – A truck driver was charged after causing truck accident that killed a Lawrenceville couple on I-985 in Gwinnett County last Friday.
Stephen Scott, of Lithonia, was charged with two counts of second degree vehicular homicide as well as following too closely.
Scott was driving a box truck when he crashed into the back of a gray Nissan Altima. Both vehicles then collided with a blue Dodge Ram pickup truck and a maroon Saturn minivan towing a small trailer with an ATV.
The crash killed the driver of the Nissan, Donna Kesse, 60, and her husband John Kesse, 62.
The driver and passenger of the pickup were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for injuries and released. The driver of the minivan was not injured. Their identities have not been released.
Scott also was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was evaluated and released to be charged. He was booked into Gwinnett County Jail on Friday and released Saturday morning after posting $12,700 bail.
