Collision between flat-bed truck and multiple cars sends four to hospital
Fairfield, CT- An accident between a flat-bed tractor trailer and five other passenger vehicles on I-95 in Connecticut caused injuries to four people and created traffic delays after the truck’s load and fuel spilled along the roadway.
The accident took place in the southbound lanes of I-95 on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:00 p.m. when a flat-bed tractor trailer carrying a load of bricks and paving stones collided with two vehicles. The crash caused the truck and the cars to slam into the concrete divider. Two vehicles on the northbound side of the highway were also involved in the accident.
As a result of the collision bricks and paving stones spilled along the roadway into five different lanes on the northbound and south bound sides of I-95. The truck’s fuel tank was punctured, causing 50 gallons of gas to spill into the storm drains until firefighters were able to plug the leak.
Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Curry, a 20 year veteran told The Connecticut Post that this collision was “one of the biggest messes I’ve seen on the turnpike.” It took crews a few hours to clean up the debris.
At least four people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. The vehicles involved had significant damage the costs of which can be recovered by a truck accident attorney.
The victims of this accident were lucky they did not suffer more serious injuries which are often the result of a truck accident. People who are seriously injured can enlist the help of a truck accident lawyer to get the compensation they deserve for their pain and suffering.
The victims of truck collisions will be able to receive a favorable settlement when they hire a truck accident attorney to begin working on their case.
