Boy hit by truck in stable condition
PORTLAND, Oregon – A seven-year-old boy that was hit by a truck white riding a dirt bike on Wednesday is currently in stable condition.
The victim, Casey Brooks, of Salem, is being treated at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland, Oregon for injuries incurred after he was hit by a truck.
Brooks had been riding his 2000 Yamaha 900CC dirt bike on his grandparents’ property at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening when he drove into a public road and got hit by a truck.
According to witnesses, Brooks drove the bike into the path of the truck. Witnesses also said that the driver was not able to avoid the little boy.
Brooks was transported to Salem Hospital with serious injuries before being taken by helicopter to OHSU.
The driver of the truck was 46-year-old Patrick Cauley. Police ran an investigation and it was determined that Cauley was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
Cauley was not charged in the incident.
Brooks had been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
